Adelaide Strikers head coach Luke Williams said a complete team performance was the key to his side’s 21-run victory over the Melbourne Stars at Karen Rolton Oval.
Openers Laura Wolvaardt (70) and Maia Bouchier (30) provided a strong foundation at the top of the order before captain Tahlia McGrath (43 not out) and Maddie Penna (36 not out) combined to power the Strikers to a competitive total.
With the ball, Amanda-Jade Wellington led the attack with three wickets, while English international Sophie Ecclestone was equally influential, claiming 3/25 from her four overs.
Emerging quick Eleanor Larosa also played a crucial role, striking twice in the same over to help swing momentum firmly in the Strikers' favour.
The Adelaide Strikers will now embark on a four-match road trip, beginning against the Brisbane Heat in an interstate home fixture in Sydney.
