The Adelaide Strikers are excited to re-sign leg spinner Anesu Mushangwe ahead of WBBL|12.
The talented 30-year-old returns for another season after establishing herself as a regular contributor for the Adelaide Strikers.
Mushangwe wrote herself into the history books in 2022, becoming the first Zimbabwean player to feature in the WBBL.
A year later, she played a pivotal role in helping the Strikers secure their second consecutive WBBL title, appearing in every match and claiming 16 wickets at an outstanding economy rate of 6.47.
She continued to deliver in big moments the following season, producing match-winning figures of 3-27 against the Sydney Sixers.
Mushangwe has also excelled on the international stage, representing Zimbabwe in 21 T20 Internationals and taking 33 wickets at an exceptional economy rate of just 3.1.
Her ability to take wickets while restricting the flow of runs has made her one of the most influential leg spinners in the women's game and a valuable member of the Strikers squad.
Mushangwe said she was eager to continue building on the success the club has enjoyed and contribute in WBBL|12.
"I'm really excited to be back with the Strikers for another season," she said.
"Adelaide has become a special place for me over the last few years and is still home for me, and I've made some incredible memories with this group, including being part of a championship-winning team.
"We have a talented squad and I'm looking forward to contributing with the ball, continuing to develop my game and doing everything I can to help the team have another successful season."
Strikers Head Coach Luke Williams said Mushangwe's ability to take wickets and control the game with the ball made her a crucial member of the squad.
"Anesu has been a key part of our squad over the past few seasons and we're thrilled to have her back," Williams said.
"She's a genuine wicket-taking threat who consistently performs under pressure, while her economy rate speaks to the control she brings with the ball.
"Having someone with her experience, skill and ability to influence matches is incredibly valuable, and we're excited to see the impact she can have again this season."
An exciting summer of Big Bash cricket is just around the corner, with early bird tickets now available through Ticketek.
With demand expected to be high, fans can guarantee their place at Adelaide Oval and Karen Rolton Oval by purchasing an Adelaide Strikers membership through the Adelaide Strikers website.
