The Adelaide Strikers are thrilled to sign opening batter Emma de Broughe ahead of WBBL|12.
Known for her aggressive strokeplay, the 26-year-old joins the Strikers after a three-season stint with the Melbourne Renegades.
A product of South Australia's pathway system, de Broughe earned her first state contract in 2019-20 and has since developed into one of the state's most consistent top-order batters.
She enjoyed a breakout 2022-23 season, scoring her maiden WNCL century and claiming the Lauren Ebsary Award as South Australia's Best Young Player.
Her strong form continued in 2023-24, earning her the Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year award at the Australian Cricket Awards.
Last season, de Broughe played an important role in South Australia's success, scoring 313 runs, including two half-centuries.
Since making her debut for South Australia, de Broughe has amassed 1,776 runs in 63 matches at an average of 28.65, including a career-best 112 and 12 half-centuries.
de Broughe said she was excited to return home and join the Strikers.
"I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Strikers and to have the opportunity to represent my home state in the WBBL,” she said.
"I've grown up around South Australian cricket and know how much the Strikers mean to our fans, so it's really special to be a part of the team.
"I've played a lot of cricket with many of the girls in the squad over the years, so it'll be great to be back around familiar faces and build on those connections.
"The squad has a great mix of experience and young talent, and I'm looking forward to contributing to that success.”
Strikers coach Luke Williams said de Broughe would be a valuable addition to the club's batting group.
"Emma is a quality player who has consistently performed at WNCL level over a number of seasons," Williams said.
"She is a strong top-order batter, knows our program well and has continued to develop her game through her time in the WBBL.
"We're thrilled to welcome Emma back to South Australia and believe she'll be a great fit for our group both on and off the field."
An exciting summer of Big Bash cricket is just around the corner, with early bird tickets now available through Ticketek.
With demand expected to be high, fans can guarantee their place at Adelaide Oval and Karen Rolton Oval by purchasing an Adelaide Strikers membership through the Adelaide Strikers website.
