The Adelaide Strikers are thrilled to announce the signing of English international Maia Bouchier ahead of WBBL|12.
One of the most exciting opening batters in the women's game, Bouchier arrives in Adelaide after establishing herself as a regular member of England’s ODI setup and building an impressive résumé across domestic and franchise cricket.
The 27-year-old made her T20 international debut against New Zealand in 2021, before earning her ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2023. It was in that series that she made an immediate impact, blasting 95 from just 65 balls in her third ODI appearance.
She continued her rise in 2024, bringing up her maiden ODI century against New Zealand before producing a remarkable Test debut against South Africa later that year, scoring 126 in her first innings.
A familiar face to Australian audiences, Bouchier has previously represented the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL, hitting a brilliant 67 off just 40 balls against the Sydney Sixers in WBBL|11.
She joins the Strikers in outstanding form, having recently scored an international century against Ireland and followed it up with back-to-back centuries for Hampshire alongside Amanda-Jade Wellington.
Bouchier said the opportunity to join a talented squad, compete for finals success and reunite with Head Coach Luke Williams made the Strikers an appealing destination.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Adelaide Strikers and adding to an already talented squad,” she said.
“They’ve built a strong reputation in the WBBL, and I’m looking forward to doing everything I can to help the group achieve success and make a deep run into the finals.
“I’m also thrilled to be reuniting with Luke Williams. We’ve worked together before and I have a lot of respect for him as a coach, so I’m looking forward to working with him again and getting to know my new teammates.”
Strikers Head Coach Luke Williams said Bouchier’s attacking style and experience would make her a fantastic addition to the squad.
“Maia is an outstanding talent and someone who has established herself as one of the most exciting batters in international cricket,” he said.
“She brings a proven ability to score quickly at the top of the order, as well as valuable experience from playing in major competitions around the world.
“Having worked with Maia before, I know the quality she possesses both as a player and as a person. We’re delighted to welcome her to the Strikers and look forward to seeing the impact she can have this season.”
