The Adelaide Strikers are pleased to announce that exciting all-rounder Jerssis Wadia has signed with the team on a two-year deal.
Wadia joined the squad as a local replacement player ahead of BBL|15, stepping in while Alex Carey was on international duties.
The 24‑year‑old announced himself to the competition in just his second Big Bash appearance with a blistering 34 off 16 balls against the Brisbane Heat.
The incredible knock included three consecutive sixes, sending shock waves across the league and even making international headlines.
With Carey returning to the squad following the Ashes, the talented prospect was given another opportunity in our final game of the regular season after spinner Cameron Boyce was omitted from the squad with an injury.
It didn’t take long for Jerssis to make the most of the opportunity, opening the bowling and claiming two wickets with the first two balls of the game.
Born in Mumbai, Wadia moved to Australia at 17 to pursue his ambition of playing professional cricket, earning selection in South Australia’s Under-19 program, through the state’s Premier Cricket competition and the Adelaide Strikers Academy.
Wadia said he couldn’t wait to put on a show at Adelaide Oval over the next two seasons.
“I couldn’t be more grateful to the Adelaide Strikers and the South Australian Cricket Association for the opportunity to play professional cricket,” Wadia said.
“I loved my time wearing the Strikers blue and playing in front of the best fans in the world, and I can’t wait to see what the next two seasons have in store.”
