Strikers fall short against Stars in first home game of BBL|15

The Adelaide Strikers were defeated by six wickets by the Melbourne Stars at Adelaide Oval in their first home game of BBL|15.

Matt Short made his first fifty of the competition and Hassan Ali picked up two wickets, but in the end, the Stars won the game with 11 deliveries to spare.

The Strikers slipped to 2/7 after losing Chris Lynn and Jason Sangha early, but Matt Short, ably aided by Liam Scott and Alex Ross, helped steady the innings.

Short top-scored with 56, while Scott and Ross added 25 and 22 respectively, but regular wickets fell and Tim Paine's side could only post 8/155.

The Stars got off to a quick start with the bat before Lloyd Pope got the breakthrough. A ripping wrong'un castled Joe Clarke to give the leg-spinner his 50th BBL wicket.

Hassan Ali was the pick of the bowlers with 2/25 but it wasn't enough to stop the Stars cantering to victory.

Next up, the Strikers head to Brisbane to face the Heat on December 27, before the return fixture on New Years Eve in Adelaide.
