The Adelaide Strikers Win A Final Ball Thriller

The Adelaide Strikers have won a final ball thriller at Karen Rolton Oval, defeating the Brisbane Heat in front of a passionate home crowd.

The Adelaide Strikers won the toss and opted to bowl first, forced to make change due to an injury to Megan Schutt. The pitch was instantly seen as a good batting track, with only some skillful bowling from the Strikers cartel keeping the Heat batters from getting away from the home side.

Two wickets a piece to spin twins Sophie Ecclestone and Amanada-Jade Wellington, helped to prevent the Heat from prolonged momentum.

A late flurry of boundaries from the Heat's middle order, set up a defendable total for the Strikers to chase done.

Chasing 170, the Strikers’ openers set the tone immediately. Tammy Beaumont (51) and Laura Wolvaardt (51) combined class and power to dismantle the Heat’s attack, racing to a strong platform. Their dismissals in quick succession triggered a brief wobble, and the contest swung back and forth as the match was racing towards its end.

Needing seven runs from the final over, Bridget Patterson (32*) held her nerve, steering the Strikers home off the very last ball.

The Adelaide Strikers now turn their attention to their next clash against the Sydney Thunder on Friday, 28 November, at Adelaide Oval.
