Player Story

The Adelaide Strikers’ inaugural WBBL signing, Megan Schutt is one of the world’s best bowlers.

The right-arm quick is among the club’s most experienced, respected and damaging players and is set to play her 100th WBBL match in WBBL|08.

Schutt has been mainstay of the Australian Women’s Cricket Team since she burst onto the international scene in late 2012 and starred as the leading wicket-taker of the 2013 ICC Women’s World Cup a few months later.

Incredibly, she is the first Australian woman to take a T20I hat-trick and also an ODI hat-trick, such is her ability to swing the momentum of a match in a matter of minutes.

A big-game player, Schutt was the top wicket-taker at the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup and snared 4-18 in the tournament final against India.

She claimed her 100th wicket in both ODI and T20I formats in 2022 and earned a Gold Medal as part of Australia’s undefeated run during the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Schutt regularly opens the bowling for Adelaide and is often relied upon at key stages of an opposition’s innings to find a breakthrough or slow the run rate. She was voted Adelaide’s Most Valuable Player of WBBL|02 and stepped up as captain during WBBL|06 demonstrating how highly she is regarded by her teammates.

Schutt was named MVP in the Strikers inaugural Championship winning season in WBBL|08.
