Carey cleared for County Championship debut

The 27-year-old signed with the Sharks for the remainder of the UK’s Vitality Blast Twenty20 competition, alongside Adelaide Strikers teammate Rashid Khan, but has now received a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from Cricket Australia to compete at first-class level for the club.

Playing under BBL|07 Championship coach Jason Gillespie, Carey is expected to slot into the XI for Sussex’s clash with Middlesex beginning this Sunday.

He’s enjoyed a strong run of form abroad after being named in the ICC Cricket World Cup Team of the Tournament, including a Player of the Match performance in his Vitality Blast debut last month with a match-winning 78 from 46 deliveries against Somerset.
