Rashid inspires Test team with stunning haul

The 20-year-old claimed a staggering 11 wickets in the one-off Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong alongside a handy half-century in Afghanistan’s first innings.

Rashid backed up his 5/55 in Bangladesh’s opening innings with a stellar 6/49 - his third five-for in a row – in the 224-run win to mark what was just the county’s second victory since attaining Test status last year.

The star leg-spinner fittingly took the final three wickets of the match with less than an hour of scheduled play remaining in the rain-affected contest.

The reigning Strikers Most Valuable Player, who will return to Adelaide for BBL|09, was duly named Player of the Match and celebrated with committed fans in attendance with a team victory lap around the stadium post-match.

It’s another impressive achievement in Rashid’s growing resume, joining Pakistan's Imran Khan and Australia's Alan Border as the only players to score a half-century and also claim 10 wickets or more in their maiden matches as captain.
