Two Strikers named in Australian T20 squad

In further good news, Richardson also retains his spot in the 13-man squad for matches four and five of the Victoria Bitter ODI Series against India after featuring in both of Australia’s’ wins at the Gabba and the MCG.

Speaking to media today, Head said he was thrilled to get the call from National Selector Rod Marsh last night and is looking forward to getting amongst the squad.

“Yeah it was a good one to get yesterday. I’m really excited and I’m looking forward to getting in Adelaide and getting underway,” said Head.

Despite securing his maiden centuries in all three formats of the game this season, Head suggested he still has more to deliver.

“I’ve been working really hard in the off season with the new leadership role and I guess that’s lifted me a little bit and helped the way I’ve been playing my cricket.”

“It’s been a good season, but I think I still got something left in the tank. I’ve been a bit inconsistent in the Shield season so I’m looking forward to the second half of that getting underway where I can hopefully get some more runs on the board.”

With the ICC World Twenty20 tournament scheduled to take place in India throughout March, January’s internationals present the perfect opportunity for players to stake their claim to selectors.

“If I get my chance hopefully I can take it and get some runs. I just want to get out there and enjoy it if I get the chance to play.”

Head will still be available for the remainder of the KFC BBL season, including the semi-finals and final, while Richardson will miss out due to his selection in the ODI squad.
