Wirra Wirra was established  in McLaren Vale way back in 1894 – by a former State Cricketer named Robert Strangways Wigley - so it’s fair to say that our love of the game originated about then. Long after Wigley’s passing, the winery was rebuilt and reborn under the guidance of Greg Trott. He put Wirra Wirra on the map and introduced the wine world to Church Block, a red wine blend that has become synonymous with Australian fine wine.

Trott was a cricket obsessive, to the point that at his home next to the winery, he adapted the hallway to the dimensions of a cricket pitch, complete with popping creases and stumps painted on the doors. No prizes for guessing what game ensued after a long lunch.
