After suffering a nine-wicket loss to the Sydney Thunder in their final regular season match on Monday, the Strikers fate laid in the hands of the remaining fixtures.
With the Heat successfully beating the Scorchers in front of neutral crowd at Adelaide Oval, the Strikers hopes depended upon the Renegades and Sixers eliminating the Hurricanes and Stars from contention; both results ultimately swinging the Strikers way.
Striker’s BBL|10 leading wicket-taker Wes Agar believes his side is capable of getting the job done this season.
“You’ve got to win every game to win the title, so we’re going in with our plans and we know we have the team that can do it. We are excited for the opportunity,” he said.
“(Tuesday) was a nerve-racking day for us, but we’re definitely thankful that the Sixers got up and we’ve got a finals chance.”
Finishing in fifth position on the ladder has earnt the Strikers an underdog tag heading into the finals series, but Agar is unfazed.
“(That tag) is fine with us. We know that as long as you’re in the finals, anyone can win it and we look at every game as a new game and know what we need to do.”
