Venue change for Alice Springs WBBL matches

08 January 2019

The Strikers confront the Scorchers at Albrecht Oval in Alice Springs on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

This weekend’s rebel WBBL matches in Alice Springs will now be played at Albrecht Oval in Alice Springs following a late change of venue.

The two matches between the Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers have been moved from Traeger Park, where last year’s historic clashes were held, as the outfield has not come up in time.

Strikers General Manager Bronwyn Klei said:

“While it’s unfortunate that Traeger Park is unavailable this weekend we are working with Alice Springs Town Council and Cricket Australia to ensure these games can be moved to Albrecht Oval.

“The Council is providing the resources and support needed to make sure the venue is ready for the games on Saturday and Sunday of the standard expected for WBBL.

“Albrecht Oval is a beautiful ground and we are looking forward to it playing host to the weekend’s games.

“Both teams are full of players who recently competed in the T20 World Cup so it’s a great opportunity for the people of Alice Springs to see some of the world’s best female cricketers in action.”

The Strikers and CA will continue to work closely with the Council ahead of the BBL game between the Strikers and Scorchers on 9 February at Traeger Park.
