Cricket Australia on Tuesday announced a tweak to regulations allowing multiple super overs to be played if two teams are tied at the conclusion of a Big Bash final.
Previously, a boundary countback system was in place if two teams remained tied after a single super over.
This tie-breaker system was in place for July’s World Cup final in which England secured the title in unique circumstances.
The new rule applies to all matches in the WBBL and BBL finals series. A tied super over in a regular season game will still see points split between the two teams.
