Adelaide has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Major Sponsorship or Partnership’ following January’s historic trip to Alice Springs, where the Strikers hosted the first-ever BBL and WBBL matches at Traeger Park.
Approximately 4,000 fans flocked to the venue as the club competed against the Perth Scorchers for the Jason Gillespie and Faith Thomas trophies.
But the impact of the trip went far beyond the action on the pitch.
The Strikers embedded themselves in the local culture with visits and clinics to spread joy to the community and promote the sport to a new audience. Both teams also wore Indigenous-designed playing shirts to recognise the strong Indigenous heritage of the region.
The awards will be presented in Sydney at the Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit on 5 July.
