Strikers set for IPL action

19 March 2019

Rashid Khan starred for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2018

Three Strikers will feature in this year’s Indian Premier League beginning in Chennai this weekend.

Star leg-spinner Rashid Khan and towering paceman Billy Stanlake will join forces once again for 2018 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rashid took the second-most wickets of any player in last year’s IPL tournament with Sunrisers, including figures of 3/19 in the Qualifying Final against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The popular spinner also bowled 167 dot balls – more than anyone else in IPL 2018.

Stanlake earned five wickets from his four matches in orange and famously hit the winning runs for Sunrisers in their final-ball victory over Mumbai last season.

The pair will team up alongside returning Australian batsman David Warner and Melbourne Renegades Afghanistan recruit Mohammad Nabi.

Big-hitting South African Colin Ingram is the third Striker set to feature in IPL 2019.

Ingram returns for his first IPL campaign since 2011 when he played three matches for the Delhi Daredevils.

He’ll line up for the Delhi franchise again, now known as the Capitals after an ownership change, under coach Ricky Ponting and alongside fellow South African-born batsman Colin Munro and Melbourne Stars Nepalese spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

The 2019 Indian Premier League tournament begins with defending champions Chennai Super Kings hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday 23 March or 1am on Sunday the 24th ACDT time.
