Special ball for last game

08 February 2019

Peter Siddle holds the special Kookaburra white ball to be used on Saturday.

A piece of Alice Springs will still play a part in Saturday’s KFC Big Bash League game between the Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers at Adelaide Oval.

The regular white ball will be replaced by a special version featuring the Arrernte word for Kookaburra - Thipe Artherrentye-Akngerre – and colour printing of Cricket Australia’s Indigenous cricket emblem.

Alice Springs, where the BBL game was originally to be played, is the place of the Arrernte people.

The painting on the ball is Walkabout Wickets by artist Fiona Clarke and represents past, present and future Aboriginal cricketers.

The same type of ball is also being used during the National Indigenous Championships and Imparja Cup in Alice Springs.
