Strikers sign Short

16 May 2018

The Adelaide Strikers have signed promising Victorian allrounder Matt Short.

Short has crossed from the Melbourne Renegades after agreeing to a three-year deal with the BBL|07 champions.

SACA General Manager High Performance Tim Nielsen said Short was a high-quality addition to the Strikers squad.

“Matt’s a talented young player, a right-hander who gives us another versatile batting option and he also bowls some handy off-spin,” he said.

“We are pleased to sign him and look forward to him joining us next summer.”

Highlights from Matt Short's BBL career so far

Short made 62 from 48 balls as an opener in his last KFC Big Bash League game for the Renegades in January but was squeezed out of the side for the semi-final against the Strikers at Adelaide Oval.

The 22-year-old made his Sheffield Shield debut for Victoria last season after scoring an unbeaten 134 for a Cricket Australia XI against England in a tour match.
