Schutt, McGrath to take on NZ

13 February 2019

Adelaide Striker Megan Schutt has been named in the Australian squad for a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, while Tahlia McGrath will represent the Governor General’s XI for one match against the visiting side.

Aussie quick Schutt has had a stellar year in green and gold, being named runner-up for the Belinda Clark Award on Monday at the Australian Cricket Awards.

The Australian Women’s Cricket Team are in top form after a title-winning ICC World T20 campaign and, prior to that, a 3-0 series win against Pakistan in their most recent 50-over series.

Schutt took 3/17 in the first ODI against Pakistan in October, earning Player of the Match, followed up by 2/25 in the second match, before being rested for the third.

Australia and New Zealand will play for the Rose Bowl – the trophy up for grabs during each ODI series between the two countries.

Australia has held the Rose Bowl for the last 17 years, winning every time the two sides have met since winning it in 2000.

McGrath has been included in the Governor General’s XI squad to take on the Kiwis for one 50-over game in Sydney, in between the second and third ODIs.

The 23-year-old allrounder has played one Test and four ODIs for Australia and played in the Governor General’s XI in 2016, alongside fellow Striker Amanda-Jade Wellington.

The top-order batter and pace-bowler compiled her maiden Women’s National Cricket League century early in the 2018-19 season and also hit solid batting form at the back-end of rebel WBBL|04 with knocks of 45, 63 and 65.

Adelaide will host the second ODI at Karen Rolton Oval on Sunday 24 February. Click to purchase tickets.
