The 19-year-old leg-spinner, who will become the first Afghan to play in the KFC Big Bash League this season, earned Man of the Match honours for his eight-wicket performance at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Rashid took his fourth first-class five-wicket haul in the second innings with figures of 5/83, including an incredible 13 maiden overs, to rip through UAE’s order.
Pleasingly, the spinner also contributed with the willow in Afghanistan’s opening innings. Rashid compiled 40 runs from 42 balls, including seven boundaries, in his country’s total of 510.
UAE coach Dougie Brown described Rashid’s performance as “world class” as Afghanistan continue to step up preparations for the country’s maiden Test.
