Recap Sunday's clash in Coffs Harbour

Last time
The Sydney Sixers claimed bragging rights in the first Big Bash match in Coffs Harbour on Sunday, led by an unbeaten 83 from opener Josh Philippe, recording a seven-wicket win over the Strikers.

Talking point
Adelaide will be eager to recapture its early-season form and avoid a third consecutive loss. Only one point separates the third-ranked Strikers and the sixth-placed Hobart Hurricanes as the race for finals spots begins to heat up moving into the second half of the season. The Sixers are shooting for a fifth-straight victory and could move to the top of the standings with another win on Wednesday night.

Stat attack
Allrounder Michael Neser is set to become the second player to feature in 50 BBL matches for the Strikers, joining former teammate Ben Laughlin. Neser has played 55 games in total including an early stint with the Brisbane Heat. Cameron White (75 matches) and Jon Wells (72) are the most experienced BBL players of the Strikers’ current squad.

Carey's call ahead of ODI tour

Striker to watch – Alex Carey
Wednesday night’s match will be Carey’s final Big Bash outing before he links up with the Australian ODI squad for a three-match tour of India. The 28-year-old has led the Strikers brilliantly in the absence of captain Travis Head, who is in line for a return to BBL action on Sunday, and is currently the club’s leading runscorer this season with 234 runs at an average just under 40. Carey will be keen for a strong finish in blue before beginning his overseas stint.

Danger player – Josh Philippe
Philippe was a deserved Player of the Match in Sunday’s clash at Coffs Harbour and the Strikers will need to find a way to quell his influence in Wednesday afternoon’s return match. The 22-year-old Western Australian packs plenty of power and is second only to Melbourne Stars allrounder Marcus Stoinis for runs in BBL|09.
