Last time we met the Renegades

Last time
Adelaide’s last win in BBL|09 came against the Renegades at Marvel Stadium earlier this season. Opening batsman Phil Salt fired with 54 off just 26 balls, including eight boundaries, while Rashid Khan (2/15), Wes Agar (2/20) and Cameron Valente (2/36) cut down the Renegades’ chase leaving the hosts 18-runs short.

Talking point
Both teams will be desperate for a win. After a bright start to the season, the Strikers sit amongst a logjam of teams in the middle of the Big Bash table off the back of three straight defeats. But all three losses have come in tight finishes which could’ve easily gone Adelaide’s way. The Renegades are yet to notch their first win of the season and need to get on a roll sooner rather than later to have any hope of sneaking into finals and defending their BBL|08 title.

Rashid Khan's incredible hat-trick

Stat attack
Hat-trick hero Rashid Khan could create yet another piece of Big Bash history in Sunday’s game at Adelaide Oval. Rashid is on track to become the fastest player to claim 50 BBL wickets in terms of matches played, with the leg-spinner on 49 wickets from 32 Big Bash outings. Former Striker Ben Laughlin holds the current record, reaching 50 BBL wickets in 35 matches.

Striker to watch – Travis Head
Captain Travis Head returns for his first match of BBL|09 after a successful summer with the Australian Test team. A proud South Australian, Head has already spoken of his excitement of returning home to don the blue and boost the club’s Big Bash campaign. It’s also an important time for 26-year-old as he hunts a return to the Australian limited-overs setup.

Danger player – Mohammad Nabi
Afghanistan’s Nabi is set to play his first BBL game of the season for the ‘Gades after completing a stint in the Bangladesh Premier League. The 35-year-old put on a 94-run partnership with Dan Christian back in BBL|08 the last time the Renegades defeated Adelaide.
