More history for star spinner

22 February 2018

Strikers spinner Rashid Khan has claimed another slice of cricket history by becoming the youngest man to be ranked No.1 by the International Cricket Council in any form of the game.

Rashid, 19, moved to equal-first position on the ICC’s ODI bowling rankings after his stellar series against Zimbabwe.

The lovable leg-spinner claimed 16 wickets at 7.93 to be named Player of the Series and lead Afghanistan to a dominant 4-1 series win.

The teen vaulted eight spots up the ICC’s ODI rankings and now shares the No.1 ODI spot with Indian quick Jasprit Bumrah.

He’s also now the fourth-ranked allrounder in the world according to the ICC rankings, showing his skill with the willow by blasting a crucial 43 from 29 balls in the fifth game of the series.

The Strikers’ leading wicket-taker in BBL|07, Rashid is also on track to become the fastest-ever player to claim 100 ODI wickets. The star spinner has 86 scalps from just 37 matches and could usurp current record-holder Mitchell Starc, who claimed 100 wickets in 52 games.
