Di Venuto was appointed the Australian national cricket team’s full-time batting coach in 2013 and lent a hand in Australia’s 5-0 Ashes triumph, and the victorious 2015 World Cup campaign.
Most recently, Di Venuto guided Surrey to their first English County Championship title in 16 years, where he has been Head Coach since 2016.
As a left-hand opening batsman in a 16-year playing career, he made 25,200 first-class runs and he has nine ODI caps with a high score of 89.
Strikers Head Coach Jason Gillespie knows first-hand the qualities Di Venuto brings to a side, having just returned from England as coach of Sussex.
“We are extremely fortunate to welcome Michael to the Strikers, who has a wealth of experience at the highest level and we’ve just seen him take out the County Championship with Surrey,” Gillespie said.
“He will undoubtedly help strengthen our batting stocks, while providing a huge boost to the entire squad.
“I know Michael personally and trust that he will help us prepare in the best way possible for a huge summer ahead.
“We also thank Greg Blewett for his outstanding assistance and mentorship during our championship campaign.”
The Adelaide Strikers begin their title defence at the Gabba on Wednesday, 19 December.
