Head-to-head
Strikers: 8
Renegades: 4
Last time they met
When the Renegades made the trip to Adelaide Oval last season, the Strikers were uncompromising, ensuring that the 'Gades headed home with a ninth straight loss.
Jon Wells (58) and Matt Short (41) helped the Strikers to set a commanding 173 target for the visitors, a total that they fell 63 runs short of achieving. Only Shaun Marsh and Beau Webster were able to break into double digits for the Renegades, with Peter Siddle at his best picking up 3/14.
Talking point
With the BBL|10 ladder beginning to take shape and teams setting their sights on a top five finish, the Strikers and Renegades are two sides who need a strong second half of the tournament.
The Strikers have had an up and down season to date, currently sitting 3-4 and in fourth position. The Adelaide side would love a confidence booster after disappointing losses to the Scorchers and Sixers, and who better to face up against than the currently last placed Renegades. Aaron Finch's side remains in desperate need of a win to salvage their season, currently on a six-game losing streak and not wanting a repeat of the the last time they visited Adelaide.
Stat attack
The Adelaide Strikers maintain their best winning percentage against the Renegades. Facing off on 12 occasions, the Strikers have been victorious on eight occasions.
Striker to watch – Wes Agar
The current owner of the BBL’s Golden Arm cap, Wes Agar continues to improve game on game. Now in his fifth season as a Striker, Agar has become a crucial cog in the Adelaide bowling attack. Still just 23 years old, the tall quick is only beginning to show what he is capable of - and if what we have seen so far is anything to go off, we have much to look forward to in the future.
Danger player – Aaron Finch
Renegades captain Aaron Finch would hardly be impressed with the start his side has made this season. After leading his squad to the title in BBL|08, the Renegades fell to the bottom of the table last season – a spot they have currently reclaimed after seven matches. The ‘Gades all-time highest runscorer, Finch will need to put runs on the board if Melbourne are to press this season, something the Strikers bowlers will be looking to prevent at all costs.
