Fans will be able to immediately identify the highest runscorer of the season via the BKT Golden Bat cap, while the summer’s top wicket-taker will don the BKT Golden Arm cap.
The caps, made by new League headwear partner 47', will be worn during the fielding innings by the respective players throughout the season and could change hands during the innings break of matches.
The Indian Premier League boasts a similar concept, awarding the leading players a purple (most wickets) and orange (most runs) cap through the tournament.
Cricket Australia Head of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson said the concept would shine a greater spotlight on the League’s top performers.
“We’re excited to introduce the BKT Golden Bat and Golden Arm caps to BBL09 and bring our fans one step closer to the heroes of our league,” he said.
“The caps provide another opportunity for fans at the ground and watching the broadcast to identify and celebrate the achievements of our players.”
Rashid Khan was Adelaide’s top wicket-taker last season while Jon Wells finished as the club’s leading runscorer.
