Girls' opportunities back for summer

08 January 2020

Cricket programs for girls are back this January school holidays, plus a new season of the Adelaide Strikers Girls Cricket League will commence later in the month.

The All-girls Adelaide Strikers School Holiday Program is designed for children aged five to 10, while a second holiday program is aimed at girls from 10 to 16.

Both programs are designed for participants to learn and hone cricket skills and to play fun, fast cricket matches, with the content tailored to suit the differing age groups.

Participants do not require prior cricket experience and will have the chance to develop their teamwork and make new friends.

Programs take place over two days at the stunning Karen Rolton Oval precinct, with girls in the program for five to 10-year-olds also receiving a participant pack full of Adelaide Strikers branded gear.

The first 100 five to 10-year-old participants to register will also receive an opportunity to take part in the pre-match clinic on Adelaide Oval before the Strikers take on the Brisbane Heat in the KFC BBL on Wednesday, 22 January.

Separately to the holiday programs, the Adelaide Strikers Girls Cricket League summer season will begin on 31 January, where girls are encouraged to join as an individual or with friends.

Also aimed at girls from 10 to 16, leagues play competitive and fun matches weekly, with multiple leagues running across metropolitan and regional South Australia.
