Adelaide set to Strike in Geelong

21 September 2018

The Adelaide Strikers will play their maiden match at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong this summer against the Melbourne Renegades with the club’s final KFC BBL|08 fixture confirmed on Friday.

The reigning BBL Champions will confront last year’s semi-finalists under lights on Thursday, 3 January in the Strikers’ first outing at the newly redeveloped venue.

The Renegades hosted a BBL-WBBL double-header against the Sydney Sixers last season in the stadium’s maiden match for Big Bash points.

Australia also held a T20I clash against Sri Lanka in February last year in GMHBA Stadium’s first taste of international cricket.

It continues the Strikers’ commitment in growing the game beyond traditional metropolitan markets and introducing cricket to a wider range of communities.

The club will return to Alice Springs in BBL|08 and will also compete against the Melbourne Stars in Moe in regional Victoria.

The Strikers begin their title defence against the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Wednesday, 19 December.
