The Adelaide Strikers have had their first match of the WEBER WBBL|11 abandoned due to rain and light.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Strikers saw their first two breakthroughs come off the back of the ever-reliable leg-spin of Amanda-Jade Wellington (2-20), before a partnership between Meg Lanning and Annabel Sutherland propelled the Stars total.
The partnership was inevitably broken by Sophie Ecclestone (1-35), although not as she would have imagined. The English superstar in her first outing for the Strikers, deflected a drive back off her bowling, running out Meg Lanning at the non-strikers end.
Ecclestone and Brown picked up one a piece as the Stars innings came to a close on 5-184.
With rain threatening and Tammy Beaumont being dismissed in the first over, it was up to Laure Wolvaardt (10*) and Maddie Penna (22*) to get the Strikers within touching distance of a potential DLS affected result.
However, despite a stroke of boundaries just, the clouds opened and caused a premature end to the fixture.
The Adelaide Strikers next match will be their first at home for the season, clashing against the Melbourne Renegades at Karen Rolton Oval on Friday, 14 November
