The Adelaide Strikers will bring an exciting and match-winning squad into the tournament, with three explosive internationals, a handful of current and former Aussie representatives and some promising young talent.
After finishing seventh in the inaugural WBBL season, the Strikers will be looking for significant improvement from a very skilled side to progress through to the finals.
Medium pace bowler Samantha Betts is suffering stress fractures in her back and will no longer be able to participate in WBBL|02, instead focusing on rest and rehabilitation to be back at her best for next year.
The Strikers will not be replacing Betts at this stage, but welcome young under-18 rookie Ellie Falconer to the side for a two-week League Pathway Placement program with the squad.
Following Falconer’s performance in the Cricket Australia Under 18 National Championships in Hobart, she will be given the opportunity to experience being a part of a Rebel WBBL club, as well as learning from some of the world’s finest Twenty20 cricketers.
Strikers coach Andrea McCauley is very positive about the side’s form, moving into opening weekend.
“The girls have been training really well and there is such a positive vibe among the group. Our new players have gelled so well with the rest of the group and we are really excited about a good contest against the Renegades in the next few days,” said McCauley.
