Stanlake bursts into ODI squad

07 January 2017

Adelaide Strikers fast bowler Billy Stanlake has earned selection in the Australian 14-man ODI squad ahead of their 5-match series against Pakistan.

Stanlake took career-best BBL figures of 3-17 against the Sydney Sixers on New Year's Eve, contributing to his total of eight for BBL|06 thus far.

“Billy Stanlake is an exciting prospect who bowls with genuine pace and is a player who has made a terrific return to action for the Adelaide Strikers in the KFC Big Bash League after a lengthy time out through injury," said Interim National Selector, Trevor Hohns.

"Billy himself and the medical staff involved in his recovery have done a great job, he’s back playing again and playing well and we believe that now is the right time to give him a chance to stretch himself."

Travis Head has also kept his place in the five-match series, which takes place in Brisbane (13 January), Melbourne (15 January), Perth (19 January), Sydney (22 January) and Adelaide (26 January).

Stanlake and Head will not be eligible for the remainder of the BBL|06 regular season as a result of their selection.
