Tait not Thunder struck

The Adelaide Strikers flew to Sydney today with one thing on their mind – how to stop the might of West Indian Chris Gayle.

Gayle singlehandedly beat the Strikers last year, when he belted a record 54-ball ton, which included 11 sixes and three boundaries. Kieron Pollard didn’t play in that match, so the battle of Polly v Gayle is one the fans at ANZ Stadium tomorrow are relishing, with the prospect of the two big hitters putting on a true exhibition of T20 power.

This time around, the Strikers have two extra weapons in the arsenal – with both Polly and Shaun Tait, who will be playing his first game in the blue, available.

“I’m not sure if I’m ever ready for Chris Gayle but I am ready for the Sydney Thunder, and it’s good to be back in the squad,” he said as the team boarded for Sydney.

The Strikers will be back on home turf this Sunday, December 23 when they take on the Sydney Sixers at 7pm.
