Adelaide Strikers’ fans took centre stage at Adelaide Oval yesterday, celebrating Fan Day with their favorite players.
Fans both young and old were given the chance to meet the Strikers squad and participate in a number of activities with their favourite players.
SACA cricket officers were on hand to run the cricket-related games with the help of the Strikers, and getting the young players involved with plenty of fun.
West Indian, Kieron "Polly" Pollard, showed off his big hitting, trading in his cricket bat for a tennis racquet to hit high catches, and Callum "Ferg" Ferguson was king of the kids.
With guidance from batsman James "Smithy" Smith, fans tested how fast they could bowl with the speed gun, whilst Brad "Youngy" Young and Michael "Ness" Neser ran a large game of cricket that featured plenty of highlights.
SACA cricket coordinator, Dale Osborne, said it was great to see so many kids getting involved and being active.
“It’s pretty rewarding to get the kids involved in the sport and develop them so they continue to play the sport,” said Osborne.
Other highlights from the day included face painting, a signing session with the players, a visit from Strikers’ mascot, Smash, and of course, Santa.
