The Adelaide Strikers welcome the return of big-hitting West Indian all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, for their first BBL|02 home game against the Brisbane Heat.

Pollard, who arrived in Adelaide this morning, comes direct from blasting 85 in a recent One Day International against Bangladesh.

There will be at least three changes to Sunday’s winning side with Phil Hughes and Nathan Lyon on Australian duties and Saeed Ajmal returning to Pakistan.

Batsman, James Smith, is in line for his Strikers debut, replacing Phil Hughes at the top of the order.

Left-arm spinner, Brad Young/Right-arm leg spinner and Cam Boyce, may also debut against the Heat.

Speaking at Adelaide Airport on Wednesday morning, Pollard is looking forward to taking part in this year’s competition after missing last year with a hamstring injury.

“Obviously the guys won the first game so I’m looking forward to joining a winning team and continuing the momentum,” he said.

“I was disappointed last year to come out all this way and not take part in any games, so I’m obviously looking to make amends for it.

“I think my role is coming in at any situation and doing what the team requires.

“Whether that’s in a crisis or a situation to win the game, I’m just here to do my best as I have always tried to do for the past few years, and hopefully we can do better this year.”
